jeep
ok, i know a lot of you city goers think that "off roading" is some hick, red neck thing to do, but i don't care becuase i love it. i went this weekend with kate, where we just went out and found trails to go on. it was a rainy day, perfect for driving around looking for trouble. well the first few trails we found ended up with not much excitement, but we came across a pretty creepy looking trail eventually which was tons of fun. i was looking for this building in this valley, which has no aparent roads to it, so i was trying to get in a back way... well this dirt road had trash all over, and looked like a place red necks make moonshine or something. i was ready to be shot at, at any time. well the first road we took ended up a dead end, but there were some deep mud holes that made mud and water come over the hood a couple of times. when i tried another trail i found a road that looked like it would go to this building. as we were going, the trail went downhill slightly and then dropped off where i could not see how steep it was. kate got out and assesed the situation, and i knew i had to go down it because i was unable to back up where i was. she said we could prob make it, so i went. we had to lean way back and it was like we were looking staight down this hill. four wheel drive makes the jeep go slower, so at least i had that going for me, plus using too much brake in a situation like that can make the rear lift off the ground and you flip over end, so i couldn't use my brakes too much. so we got to the bottom and i hoped there was another way out, becuase i didn't want to attack this hill going up. we came to a point where i needed to turn around as there were several of th
ese steep hills and it was getting late, so i came to the realization that i needed to go back up this hill. at the bottom of this hill was a creek with big rocks, so i could not get a running start to get up it. i put the jeep in four wheel drive, got over the creek, aimed eugene ii nose up, and floored it all the way up. pretty damn scary but we made it. my heart was pounding, and i love that. so we got back ok, and i am definalty going back to try again. if anyone wants to join us, and has a video camera, you are more than welcome, just let me know. i need to get this stuff on video. i am going to try the entire trail next time, as i need to find out where it goes to.
